About Lightwave

Lightwave is a London-based technical event production company, established in 2012. We deliver lighting, sound, video, staging and scenic solutions for live events across the UK and beyond, including conferences, awards show, exhibitions and festivals. Our reputation is built on immaculate kit, meticulous preparation and a team that takes genuine pride in what leaves the building.

The Role

We are seeking a Sound Prep Technician to join a busy and fast-growing department in our warehouse. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role responsible for ensuring every desk and rack is tested, prepped and show-ready.

You’ll be the person who helps makes sure each job that leaves is perfectly prepped and that everything comes back checked, repaired and returned to its home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prep audio equipment for upcoming jobs against picking lists in our rental management system, scanning equipment out with scanners and reporting any shortages.
  • Test and configure equipment before dispatch – loudspeakers and amplifiers, digital mixing console, wireless microphone and IEM systems, comms, audio networking and cable packages. Including, building, wiring and labelling amp racks and RF racks to spec for upcoming jobs.
  • Check in returning equipment: test, clean, inspect all items and return them to their designated locations, reporting any losses or damages.
  • Carry out first-line maintenance and repairs, including cable repairs, firmware updates, hardware swaps, and escalate more complex faults.
  • Assist with portable appliance testing (PAT) of all Lightwave stock.
  • Support the wider warehouse team with goods in/out, loading and unloading vehicles, stock checks and general housekeeping.

About You – Essential

  • Broad working knowledge of professional audio equipment including loudspeakers, amplifiers, microphones, wireless/RF systems and digital mixing consoles.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Able to work autonomously whilst being a real team player.
  • Comfortable using computer systems and asset management software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in doing things properly, every time.
  • Organised, self-motivated and able to prioritise a busy workload against job deadlines.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving equipment (up to 25kg) and working on your feet in an active warehouse.
  • To maintain service levels during busy periods, the ability to work paid overtime on occasions, including weekends is essential.

About You – Desirable

  • Portable appliance testing (PAT) experience
  • Full UK driving licence

What We Offer

  • Salary of £33,000 per annum
  • 20 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Company pension scheme
  • Training and development
  • Overtime at 1.5 pay rate
  • Cycle to work scheme
